YR5-6 SPORTSHALL ATHLETICS COMPETITION
On 8th February 2024 we held our Yr5-6 Sportshall Athletics Competition. This was a Compete themed event and was for pupils who enjoy competition. All Pupils received a participant certificate and the school games value celebrated for this event was Teamwork. All children were encouraged to display the school games values and fair play but each team nominated one pupil from their school who stood out the most for showing Teamwork School Games Value. Each pupil competed in a maximum of 2 track and 2 field events.
We had the following 11 schools/teams attend our event:
- Astley
- Barford
- Bawburgh
- Beeston
- Cawston
- Costessey
- Drayton Jnr
- Firside
- Kinsale Jnr
- Mattishall
- Taverham Jnr
Taverham High School sports leaders helped run the competition, who were brilliant at supporting and encouraging the children to do their personal best. It was great to see around 200 children involved in the competition and a great opportunity for the pupils to represent their school in a sports event. Following on from todays event, we encourage schools to provide the children an opportunity to develop and improve their athletic skills further by putting on clubs and encouraging the pupils to join a local community club to promote/grow athletics wider in Norfolk.
Youth Voice - Quotes from the pupils at the event;
